The Golf Shop Assistant will create a warm professional presence for all Members and their guests, playing a large role in communicating with members and guests via phone and email and the outside operations team via radio. He or she will be responsible for contributing to the profitability of our Golf Shop and to the satisfaction of our members and their guests, those who play golf or simply shop in the store. An experienced customer service professional, the Golf Shop Assistant will be well versed in HCCs house and golf committee rules, upcoming and ongoing HCC golf events and all available golf-related services and merchandise at the Club Specializing in the promotion and sales of merchandise, the Golf Shop Assistant will be well versed in all procedures necessary to provide the services available in the golf shop including inventory control and management, special order processing, accurate pricing, stocking shelves, setting up displays and conducting regular inventories. He or she will keep the shop tidy and clean, dust displays and vacuum during the closing shift.
Position Qualifications:
1. High school diploma required
2. Prior experience in a similar capacity or equivalent work experience and an appreciation for and basic knowledge of the sport of golf
3. A service-oriented personality; warm, friendly and outgoing without being overbearing, possessing a pleasant and caring manner with everyone
4. Able to communicate effectively and professionally with all stakeholders; to follow oral and written instructions and to memorize necessary information
5. Intermediate to advance computer skills; facility with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Point of Sales systems; able to learn new programs quickly and easily
6. A fast learner with good retention skills able to master an understanding of merchandise, systems, rules and all other information required for top performance
7. Computer and data entry skills, including with Jonas or another POS system
8. Creativity and an eye for detail when working with shop displays
9. A team player able to work well with others
10. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
11. Exceptional grooming habits, reliably presenting in clean professional business attire
12. Punctual and reliable
13. Able to work long hours on short notice, juggle multiple competing priorities and meet deadlines
14. Comfortable with frequent interruptions
15. Bi-lingual English and Spanish preferred
